THE HISTORY OF SCIENTOLOGY’S EXPANSION

Two new churches of Scientology opened – the Celebrity Centre Nashville and the Church of Scientology of Buenos Aires. Ten new missions opened in the Commonwealth of Independent States.

Nineteen ninety-four also marked the fortieth anniversary of the Church of Scientology. As part of the year-long celebration, the What Is Scientology? exhibition opened in December at the National Press Club in Washington, DC. Heightened interest in Scientology brought hundreds of government officials and members of the media to tour the exhibit to learn more about the Church and its membership.

In 1995, Scientology books and materials were made available in more languages than ever before, to millions of new people. Released in March in fourteen different languages was L. Ron Hubbard: A Profile, a comprehensive look at his life and work which chronicled Mr. Hubbard’s contributions to a broad number of fields including philosophy, education, drug rehabilitation, photography, music and literature, among others. This publication launched a whole new RON Series offering unique insights into Mr. Hubbard’s many endeavors and his dedication to helping others.

In 1995, sales of Dianetics reached 17 million in May. In the Commonwealth of Independent States, L. Ron Hubbard technology became available in Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan.
