That a church would involve itself in charitable works and community betterment is both natural and traditional. For if it can be said that all great religions sprang from what is decent and beneficent in man, then it follows that charity and social responsibility are logical extensions of spiritual values. Prior to government welfare programs, for example, only the church could be counted upon to provide for the needy and the destitute – and through much of the world it is still only the church that provides assistance.
The Church of Scientology has become a vital force in the community. Utilizing L. Ron Hubbard’s breakthroughs and technology, Scientology churches have become not only catalysts for constructive change throughout the world, but also rallying points for those who seek to improve conditions in their communities.
