L. RON HUBBARD: HOW HIS WORK HAS INFLUENCED THE WORLD

SOLUTIONS FOR A TOXIC WORLD

While greater spiritual freedom for man has always been the focus of Mr. Hubbard’s work, he also examined both the body’s effect upon the spirit and the spirit’s effect on the body.

One example is Mr. Hubbard’s discovery that residual deposits of drugs and other chemicals lodged in body fat and continued to affect one mentally and spiritually for many years. Because drug residue poses a major barrier to an individual’s spiritual progress, a solution was needed. Mr. Hubbard’s answer was the Purification program, a regimen of vitamins, exercise and sauna which flushes toxic substances out of the body and frees one from their harmful effects.

That discovery soon found broad use in other fields. Almost immediately it was seized upon as an effective contribution to drug rehabilitation. Mr. Hubbard had earlier developed methods to ease an individual’s withdrawal from drugs and to put him back in communication with his environment. These methods were being used routinely in the Narconon program for nearly ten years to free addicts from the grip of chemical dependency.

Release of the Purification program prompted Narconon programs around the world to adopt this regimen to further increase their effectiveness. By the mid-1980s, its efficacy was recognized by scientific studies and by the early 1990s, experts in the field of drug rehabilitation were recommending Narconon as the most effective drug rehabilitation program in existence.
